To remove the bolt (#2) enough to remove the dogbone, you need to loosen the steering rack bolts so it can move out of the way. There's a connector above the bolt that gets in the way. (Time to swear again as you notice this!) Now remove the steering rack bolts (#3). They came out easily using an impact but you need to hold the nut (#1) steady.

After charging our Bolt with a Level 1 charger without problems for 5 years, suddenly the red indicator light went on and I couldn't charge the car.
